THE GULF WAR : Helping Hand: USO
The USO--out of the limelight for years--has been FLOODED WITH DONATIONS AND VOLUNTEERS. Coffee and doughnuts are still being served at United Service Organization centers around the world, but troops and their families are also getting help with phone calls, emergency grocery money and emotional support programs--all funded with individual and corporate donations. The USO--chartered by Congress but privately financed--was founded in 1941.
