Associated Press
PASSAU, Germany —
Police arrested several people Saturday for raising their hand in a Hitler salute during a rally of the far right in this Bavarian city, authorities said.
Police did not say how many people had been arrested at the meeting of the German Peoples-Union. About 300 left-wing opponents showed up outside a large hall in Passau to protest the rally.
It is illegal to make the gesture in Germany, and it carries a penalty of up to three years in jail.
