Taking Potshots at Gun Control

Tim Rutten criticizes “The Gospel of the Gun-Control Foes” (Feb. 8) because it holds “to the literal truth of the Second Amendment.”

The literal truth of the First Amendment is what allows Tim Rutten and others to freely express themselves.

For shame, Tim Rutten. Equality under the law demands that all amendments be adhered to equally. Personal bias does not allow one amendment to be treated as literally true while another is less literally true lest the whole basis of our constitutional government fall apart.
