Bank of America employees servicing an automatic teller machine were confronted by an armed robber who escaped with more than $50,000, police reported. No one was hurt. Sgt. James Bailey said two employees “went to the bank branch at 15 Ocean Avenue to make a collection when they found the machine was malfunctioning. One of the employees went outside to correct the problem.” Bailey said the man who went outside was surprised by a man armed with a revolver. He marched the employee back inside the bank, entered the safe and grabbed more than $50,000. The sergeant said the thief handcuffed the two, silenced them with duct tape and escaped.
