McCarthy on ‘Coward’s War’

Share

Where are the words to express the outrage felt from reading Colman McCarthy’s column “The U.S. Wages a Coward’s War” (Commentary, Feb. 15) and for the wimpy and, yes, cowardly Times in printing it.

Our pilots are among the bravest Americans who ever lived and are saving the world from Armageddon. Unchecked, Saddam Hussein or his ilk would have eventually destroyed the world. Imagine that mentality leading the so-called Third World with nuclear, chemical and germ weapons against the rest of civilization.

My credentials for defining what is bravery and what is cowardly? I was an eyewitness to the raising of the American flag atop Mt. Suribachi on Iwo Jima, perhaps the absolute epitome depicting the bravery of Americans.
