In a book published in German as “Unser Kampf,” Saddam Hussein clearly defined his goals, reports said Friday.

The title, which means “Our Struggle,” chillingly echoes that of Adolf Hitler’s book “Mein Kampf,” or “My Struggle.”

The Hamburger Rundschau newspaper on Thursday published excerpts of the book, which it described as a collection of Hussein’s speeches and interviews that was published in German and Arabic in Geneva in 1977. The Berliner Morgenpost carried a similar report Friday.

In it, Hussein described his main aims as waging war to unite Arabs against the West; splitting Japan, Europe and the United States with a clever oil policy, and substituting a Palestinian state for Israel, the Hamburg newspaper said.

Hussein also said waging war to create solidarity against the West was the first of his three main political principles, the Hamburg paper said.
