AFTERMATH OF WAR: The Home Front : Troops: All Her Sons

Minnie Pearl Jurnett of Maury City, Tenn., struggled this week to keep the smile off her face, although she is still worried about her FIVE SONS SERVING IN THE PERSIAN GULF. “I’m happy, but when I find out for sure everything is over with, I’ll relax,” she said. But news of the Mideast cease-fire obviously raised spirits around the Jurnett household. Three of her sons are in the Army, one is in the Army reserve, and one is in the Navy. Her sons joined the military largely to seek better lives than their rural home offered, but they also discovered a sense of pride in serving their country, Jurnett said. “And I’m proud of them.”
