WHAT’S THE RUSH?

Share

What is obvious to anyone who reads about Limbaugh is that his “humor” is always directed against people who, in a climate of intolerance, are routinely victims of verbal and physical hate crimes and aggression, namely women, African-Americans, gay men and lesbians, and the homeless. It is very disheartening when publicity is given to those who believe “entertainment” means verbally attacking people who are at highest risk for physical violence and portraying rich, white, male Republicans as victims of intolerance. This is all neatly summarized when you describe Limbaugh’s reasons for stopping his attacks on gays and people with AIDS: He got tired of being identified as a gay basher. Would that he said he stopped because he felt it was immoral or demeaning to the victims he continues to bash and not because he was the victim.
