OXNARD : Rewards Against Graffiti Considered

Share

The Oxnard City Council on Tuesday will consider establishing a reward of up to $250 for residents who provide information leading to the arrest of graffiti vandals.

The cash reward is part of an anti-graffiti program approved by the council in January. The city has allocated $24,000 for an anti-graffiti Community Awareness program, and a $5,000 cash award program through the current fiscal year, which ends July 1.

Under the program, which becomes effective today, the city manager is authorized to approve use of city funds to remove graffiti from private and public buildings.

Removal will be carried out by neighborhood volunteers, high school students and work-furlough inmates, said Oxnard Community Services spokeswoman Debra Stowe.
