Storm Clouds on Weekend Horizon
One more day of sunshine is in store for San Diego before another cycle of rain and cooler weather roll in from the Gulf of Alaska this weekend, forecasters say.
Temperatures today will be pleasant and mild with plenty of sunshine, meteorologist Wilbur Shigehara said.
But the high pressure, which has kept skies mostly sunny this week, will give way to the storm moving in this weekend, Shigehara said.
Clouds will begin rolling in during the day Saturday, and rain may begin falling by nightfall. The storm, expected to drop snow on the mountains, is part of the normal winter storm track from the gulf, he said.
“It’s not going to be raining all night Saturday, but we could receive up to half an inch of rain” before the storm is over, he said. “This storm could extend into Monday with another shot of showers Sunday night and Monday.”
Winds will gust up to 25 m.p.h. along the coast and inland areas and up to 35 m.p.h. in the mountains. The snow line could drop as low as 5,000 feet.
