Another War: The other POWs, Publishers of War, have been freed and are chasing Army Spec. Melissa Rathbun-Nealy, 20, the first American woman POW in the Persian Gulf War. Her father, Leo Rathbun of Newaygo, Mich., says the flood of offers includes $100,000 from the Globe, a supermarket tabloid. But Rathbun-Nealy is underwhelmed by her fame after her truck bogged down near the Kuwait-Saudi Arabian border: “I’m no hero. I just got stuck in the sand.”

* Big Fall: Sumo wrestler Kotonishiki has finally been floored--by his infidelities. “Incurable Moron,” shrieked one headline after a sports tabloid published its scoop of the baby-faced wrestler’s relationships with two “sumo groupies.” Now, few are calling Kotonishiki, 22, a future grand champion of traditional Japanese wrestling. The papers were indignant that Kotonishiki dumped his pregnant wife--whom he had secretly wed earlier this year--for a 19-year-old student he promised to marry.

* Remodeled: After a 15-month engagement, Los Angeles restaurateur Darrien Earle plans to marry Chrysler Corp. Chairman Lee Iacocca March 30. The wedding--Earle’s second, Iacocca’s third--will be small and private. The 66-year-old auto maker divorced his second wife, Peggy Johnson, less than two years after their April, 1986, wedding. Said Johnson: “He’s the most wonderful man in the world, and I’m sorry we didn’t make it.”

* Calling Foul: Former New Zealand Prime Minister David Lange Wednesday upbraided his replacement, Jim Bolger, for telephoning George Bush to congratulate him on the outcome of the Gulf War. Lange told Parliament: “If we must have calls to the President of the United States to adopt this particular grovel, for goodness’ sake at least let’s make them collect.”
