Allied Victory in Mideast War
In all this orgy of self-congratulations, flag-waving, yellow ribbons, parade planning and “America-is-backism” over the success of the Persian Gulf War, not one word has been publicly expressed about the fate of Terry Anderson and the other hostages taken in Lebanon.
It is staggering to realize that Anderson has been held captive for more than five years, that Terry Waite (the Archbishop of Canterbury’s envoy) has suffered almost as long, that some of those unfortunate people have been tortured and killed. Whether these vicious acts were Iraqi-inspired or not, one would think it would behoove the West’s now fearless leader to make their immediate release his very top priority in settling his “new world order” in the Middle East.
