The Tarzana Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the 15th annual Miss Tarzana Beauty Pageant, which will feature 28 contestants. It will be held March 22 at the Warner Center Marriott, 21850 Oxnard St., Woodland Hills. The black-tie event will feature cocktails, dinner, dancing and a silent auction followed by the pageant. The winner will receive a $1,500 scholarship to the school of her choice and will represent Tarzana in the Miss California Beauty Pageant. Tickets are $50. For information, call (818) 343-8686.

“Bowl for LIFE,” held last month to benefit Love Is Feeding Everyone, raised $40,000 and collected 1,000 pounds of food for the homeless. The event, hosted by entertainers Kate Linder of television’s “The Young and the Restless” and Dennis Weaver, president and co-founder of LIFE, featured 420 bowlers from Los Angeles and Orange counties. They were joined by cast members from various television shows. LIFE operates a food recovering and distribution program in an attempt to combat hunger in Los Angeles County. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs will provide tax assistance for lower-income, elderly, handicapped and non-English speaking taxpayers through April 15. The programs, sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service and the state Franchise Tax Board, are designed to train individuals to answer tax questions and prepare basic federal and state individual tax returns. The free tax preparation is limited to Forms 1040EZ, 1040A and 1040 with Schedules A and B, itemized deductions and some special credits for which the taxpayer may be eligible.
