Humor and Nostalgia

Share

Here are two literary tidbits for gardeners. The first is a new quarterly digest called Green Prints. Its theme is “Chasing the Soul of Gardening.” Its goal is to cover the human side, rather than the how-to, of gardening.

Green Prints is loaded with excerpts from classic garden writing, humor and nostalgia. Its publishers call it the “Weeders Digest.” Subscriptions are $10 for four issues. Order from Green Prints, P.O. Box 1355, Fairview, N.C. 28730.

The second is a travel newsletter devoted to garden enthusiasts called Gardens & Countrysides. It offers a view into spectacular gardens and scenic areas around the world. Each issue covers a specific geographic region.

Recent issues covered Napa and Sonoma wine country gardens in California and the Renaissance gardens of the Tuscany region of Italy. Editor/publisher Peter Selig researches each area personally and includes historical and botanical information on gardens in the area.

He also includes practicalities on the best restaurants, country hotels, shops and more. For further information and subscription rates, write Gardens & Countrysides, 401 Austin Hwy., Suite 209, San Antonio, Tex. 78209.
