COUNTYWIDE : 15-K Walks in 3 Cities to Aid MS Patients

Share

The Orange County chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will hold 15-kilometer walks in three cities on April 7 to raise money to fight the disease.

Participants are encouraged to obtain pledges for the event, dubbed the Super Cities Walk for Multiple Sclerosis. Donations will be directed to research and services to help people with multiple sclerosis--a chronic, often disabling neurological disease of the central nervous system, society officials said.

Two of the routes will appeal to nature lovers. One of them will begin at the Fullerton Arboretum, taking in the facility’s waterfall stream and sanctuary for native birds, fish and pond turtles. A second route that begins in Newport Dunes will course through the Back Bay ecological park in Upper Newport Bay.

Participants on the third route, which will be in South County, will follow a mystery course, with clues supplied along the way.

All sites are wheelchair-accessible. Check-in for the walks begins at 7:30 a.m., and the official start is 9 a.m. For information, call (800) 486-MSOC or (714) 752-1680.
