The same man may have been responsible for two bank robberies Monday--one in Clairemont and one in Lemon Grove, a San Diego Police Department spokesman said.

About 2:35 p.m., a man walked into the Security Pacific Bank branch in the 5400 block of Balboa Avenue in Clairemont and gave the teller a demand note, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. He walked out of the bank a few minutes later with $2,200 in cash.

About 9:16 a.m., a man handed a demand note to a teller at the Wells Fargo Bank branch in the 7000 block of Broadway in Lemon Grove and walked out with about $2,000 cash, Sheriff’s Sgt. Roy Stamper said.

Authorities were unable to confirm whether the banks were robbed by the same man but said descriptions of the robbers were similar.
