Back Up Patriotism by Helping Veterans

Share

In a time when patriotism is running high, it is a shame that some of that energy cannot be harnessed to do some good for the veterans who are in veterans hospitals now. They may be older ones, but they need help nonetheless.

My husband is in the VA nursing home in Sepulveda, and at lunch and dinner-time, there are seldom enough people around to help feed the men. The nurses are busy giving out medicine, and the men wait for someone to help feed them the cold and congealed food.

I wish some of you with time on your hands could put your hours to good use and help out at the Sepulveda facility or any of the others in your area.

There are a few special people that show up there that are so wonderful that I thank heaven for their devotion. They cannot do all the jobs that need doing. They need your help.

It is time to put action behind those patriotic words. Those of you in the Valley, contact the Sepulveda Veterans Affairs Medical Center at 818-891-7711 and ask for the volunteer department. It will make your day, and it will make the day of others.
