Rice Dispute in Japan: The National Confederation of Farmers’ Movements asked police to prosecute a U.S. rice industry group for displaying imported rice at a trade fair in Chiba, near Tokyo. The farmers contended that the USA Rice Council had violated a law that bans rice imports for commercial purposes. The Agriculture Ministry has demanded that the samples be removed from the fair, Foodex Japan ’91.
