The former administrator of the Simi Valley Moose Lodge was fined $500 and placed on probation for three years after pleading no contest in Ventura County Municipal Court Friday to charges of running a video gambling operation.
Donald Joseph Zuker, 58, of Simi Valley was charged last month with one count of managing gambling devices after an eight-month investigation by the Ventura County district attorney’s office, the Simi Valley Police Department and other agencies.
Authorities raided the Moose Lodge on Alamo Street in May on a tip that lodge members were running up substantial losses.
They seized four machines, including three video gambling machines that offered electronic poker, craps and blackjack games.
At that time Zuker was the lodge administrator who handled the proceeds from the electronic video slot machines and made payments to winners, authorities said.
The fraternal lodge netted almost $1,000 a week from the operation, they said.
Zuker’s probation specifies that he cannot visit the club.
