Voluptuous Woman May Pay the Price

Re “The Voluptuous Woman Makes a Comeback” (Feb. 22): Imagine a planet where women voluntarily implant bags of industrial silicone inside their bodies with surgery, risking horrible pain and permanent disfigurement if the bags leak or burst.

Such an occurance reminds me of the stomach-popping scene in “Aliens,” a movie that has, incidentally, a terrible vision of the future. The women do this to avoid comments like one lady’s husband who told her “he couldn’t tell the difference between the front or back (of her).” Other women do this to imitate the photos of the Playboy Playmate . . . image as the ideal to be cloned.
