Iacocca on H. Norman Schwarzkopf Jr.: Chrysler Corp. Chairman Lee A. Iacocca, trying to energize the anemic auto maker for the second time in his career, said he’s getting tired, is talking with directors about a successor and wouldn’t mind hiring the Persian Gulf War hero to help run the company. “He’s a brilliant strategist and a hard worker, and he’s going to leave the Army,” Iacocca said in a Fortune magazine interview. “He knows objectives and he must know people, and he sure would have discipline, wouldn’t he? What else does an executive need?” However, the leading candidate to succeed Iacocca is generally considered to be company President Robert A. Lutz, 59, who joined Chrysler in 1986 after heading Ford of Europe.
