Bubka Raises Pole Vault Record to 20-1

Sergei Bubka of the Soviet Union broke his own pole vault world record by clearing 20 feet 1 inch at Grenoble, France.
Bubka set the previous mark of 20- 1/2 last Tuesday in his hometown of Donetsk.
Bubka, 27, has broken the record, indoor or outdoors, 24 times, and he has done it three times this season.
He set the record Saturday on his third try before a crowd of 6,000.
