Teen-Age Moms Face Monumental Tasks

Share

The article on Linda Pollard (“Just a Kid Herself,” March 13) reminded me of a similar situation in my family.

Teen-age pregnancy can bring with it many hardships, despite the love and joy in the child who is born. As Linda’s case pointed out, and my family situation confirms, getting back on track--finishing school and raising the child properly--are monumental tasks for these young mothers, who are still maturing themselves.

One particular concern I found in Linda’s story was her low expectation for her child not to have sex until she’s at least 14 years old. I’m confident that as Linda matures, her expectations on sex and life for her child will rise also.
