Tool Orders Up Sharply: Orders and shipments of U.S.-made machine tools rose sharply in February despite a slow economy and concerns over the Gulf War, the Assn. for Manufacturing Technology said. The McLean, Va.-based trade group said total orders, bolstered by strength in the U.S. market, rose to $255.2 million, up 27.7% from January and up 31.2% from February, 1990.
