No U.S. Aid for Big Three Now: President Bush listened to the concerns of the chairmen of the Big Three auto makers but has no plans for government action to help them ride out tough economic times, the White House said. White House Press Secretary Marlin Fitzwater said Bush met with the chairmen of Chrysler Corp., General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. last Wednesday at the White House. The auto makers requested the session to discuss the effect on their industry of the recession, fuel-economy legislation and Japanese imports, Fitzwater said. “He listened. No decisions came out of the meeting,” Fitzwater said.
