Rexhall Reports Loss After Motor Home Sales Plunge

Rexhall Industries Inc., a Santa Clarita maker of motor homes, said it lost $601,000 in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 1990, compared to a net income of $447,000 a year earlier. The company said its sales for the period plunged 57% to $4 million from $9.39 million the year before.

But Rexhall said orders for its motor homes began to increase in March, 1991 and it has increased its rate of production from two to three of the vehicles each day. The company is now preparing to produce four motor homes per day. Rexhall announced that it has also introduced a new small motor home called Concord.

For the full year 1990, Rexhall’s profit dropped 68% to $701,000 from $2.17 million in 1989. The company’s sales for the year increased 16% to $39.6 million from $34.1 million.
