Five people, including a civilian traffic clerk in the West Covina Police Department, have been arrested and charged with grand theft and receiving stolen property in the breakup of a stolen motorcycle ring, authorities said Monday.

Sheriff’s deputies recovered two stolen vehicles and 45 motorcycles, valued at $400,000, after a weeklong investigation, Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Rafael Estrada said.

The clerk, Vanessa Romero, 19, of Whittier was accused of supplying the others with the names and addresses of owners of expensive motorcycles, which were stolen and stashed for resale, Estrada said.
