Lambda Scholarship

Kudos to The Times for the coverage of gay and lesbian scholarship funds being developed and awarded across the country (Part A, Feb. 27). I would like to add the name of another prestigious institution to the list of universities that make scholarships available to gay and lesbian students--UCLA.

On May 4, Lambda Alumni, UCLA’s Lesbian and Gay Alumni Assn., will present its first round of scholarship awards to gay and lesbian students. While the financial burden of attending colleges and universities has increased dramatically for all students, lesbian and gay students often encounter unique difficulties which most current programs and scholarships do not address. And while Lambda’s award amounts are not as substantial as others mentioned in the article, Lambda is very proud to be a part of what we hope to be a longstanding tradition at UCLA.
