The Woodward Chair: Sarah Lawrence College is the recipient of $1 million from the Newman Foundation to establish the Joanne Woodward Chair in Public Policy. The funds will be used to develop studies that encourage students to seek careers in public service. Woodward was graduated from Sarah Lawrence last year, her daughters Clea and Melissa Newman also are graduates, and she has been a trustee of Sarah Lawrence since 1986.
