I take strong exception to your editorial.

Pray tell, if science is not held accountable to the “moral and ethical concerns” of society, then to just what exactly is it to be held accountable? I presume then that you would allow--no, endorse--involuntary testing and research upon any group in society just so long as it served “the pursuit of science.”

Your editorial reflects a widespread ignorance on the subject of bioethics. And while it is certain that Josef Mengele would have heartily approved of your statement, let us hope that wiser people will prevail.
