Rockwell to Sell Network Transmission Unit: El Segundo-based Rockwell International said it plans to sell its Network Transmission Systems division, which supplies products to local and long-distance carriers and cellular phone companies, to help it meet long-term profit goals. Analyst Michael Rosen of Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. in New York estimated that the Richardson, Tex.-based unit will probably bring more than $500 million in a sale. Rockwell said it plans to complete the sale of the unit, which has annual revenue of nearly $500 million and employs about 3,600 workers, by the end of the year.
