The best tools for untangling long tresses, especially when hair is wet, are both functional and stylish. Bright-colored brushes and wide-toothed combs in pretty, see-through plastic can be found among the hair accessories at the Body Shop, opening this month in South Coast Plaza.

Claw-shaped combs, at the Aida Thibiant Institut de Beaute in Beverly Hills, also help eliminate snarls. To use them, toss hair forward, then comb the underside, allowing the gently curved prongs to lift and separate strands.
