‘Twilight Zone’ Prosecutor Wins $50,000 Over Firing
The Los Angeles County Claims Board on Thursday approved a $50,000 settlement for a former prosecutor removed in the middle of the “Twilight Zone” trial of director John Landis and others.
Former Deputy Dist. Atty. Gary Kesselman sued the county, Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner and others for his firing, which came several months after he was taken off the sensational case.
Kesselman claimed that his firing was retaliatory, that he was denied due process and that the defendants defamed him. A federal judge dismissed the lawsuit before trial, but an appeals panel reinstated it.
