Cal Poly Pomona Wins Horticulture Honors

Competing against 29 colleges, Cal Poly Pomona ornamental horticulture students placed second overall in the Associated Landscape Contractors of America Student Field Day last month at the University of Kentucky.

Cal Poly Pomona students who got individual awards were John Gonzalez, first in irrigation design; Geoff Turner, second in interior plant identification; Troy Lehman, second in landscape maintenance estimating; Mike Chaille and Karen Gruber, second in brick patio construction; Charles Oelsen, third in weed and turf identification, and Dory Vanfleet and Lehman, third in truck and trailer operation.
