N.Y. Homicide Rate Up

NEW YORK —
The homicide rate in New York City reached a new high in 1990--an average of six killings a day--but the overall number of crimes fell slightly, according to police statistics released Monday.
There were 2,245 homicides in the city in 1990, or 17.8% more than in 1989.
