Stick to the Subject

I think Chris Pasles should stick to interviewing people who have his personal stamp of approval and skip people, like Kathleen Battle, who tick him off when they do not concede his obvious pen-wielding power to have the last public nasty word (“Battle Opens Up--but Not Until After Some Cross-Fire,” Calendar, April 17).

Whether or not she answered her phone or canceled a photo session has nothing to do with her talent as an opera singer--the reasonable justification for the interview. I have seen a televised interview of Ms. Battle. I thought it was very well done because it focused primarily on the development of her career and her professional goals.
