Diego Maradona was charged with possession and distribution of drugs and released from jail in Buenos Aires on $20,000 bond.

Maradona was forbidden to leave Argentina pending trial.

The soccer star was arrested Friday with two companions and accused of “distributing drugs free of charge and drug possession.”

Maradona’s two companions, Juan Perez and Ricardo Ayala, were released on $1,500 bail.

Test results on the small quantity of white powder seized were not disclosed, but Argentina news agency reported Maradona tested positive for cocaine.
