County Courthouse Is Declared No-Smoking Area
Superior Court Presiding Judge Ricardo A. Torres and Municipal Court Presiding Judge Karl W. Jaeger have declared all public portions of the Los Angeles County Courthouse no-smoking areas.
The announcement was made without fanfare and apparently without enforcement.
Courtrooms and jury rooms have long been off limits to smokers. The new policy will apply to corridors, public offices and the lobbies of the Civic Center building. In a statement, Torres and Jaeger said signs outlining the policy will be posted throughout the courthouse.
