EDUCATION : School Districts : First-Year Schools Chief Is Finalist for Tucson Job

The first-year superintendent of the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District is a finalist for the head job in an Arizona school district. Supt. Robert Aguilar is among four finalists competing to be superintendent of the Tucson Unified School District. The Arizona district has 57,000 students. Its current superintendent will leave June 30 to take a similar position with the Riverside Unified School District.

The Norwalk-La Mirada district selected Aguilar as superintendent last May. The district has 18,000 students and serves most of Norwalk and La Mirada as well as a section of unincorporated county territory.
