Grants Will Help Build Housing for AIDS Patients

Share

State officials announced $2 million in loans and grants Friday to construct a 22-unit apartment building in West Hollywood designed primarily to house AIDS patients.

Half of the money, in the form of low-interest loans, will come from the Rental Housing Construction Program created by Proposition 107, approved by voters in June, 1990. The other half will come from the Century Freeway Housing Program, which builds and rehabilitates affordable housing in communities within 12 miles of the corridor where the freeway is being built.

Construction is scheduled to begin in June and be completed by July, 1992. When completed, the one- and two-bedroom apartments will rent for $244 to $492 per month, depending on the income and family size of the tenant.
