POWER ROWER: Mixing duties as rowing coach and college president has landed Orange Coast College’s David A. Grant a feature spread in the current Sports Illustrated. “. . . Those are very exciting positions to juggle, but I love to teach,” said Grant, 53, who trains with his winning team, the “Giant Killers,” every weekday from 6 to 8 a.m. “It keeps my hand in what this place is all about--which is good teaching.” Grant has headed the Costa Mesa campus since 1989.
