World IN BRIEF : SOUTH KOREA : Dissidents, Police Clash Over Roh Rule

Thousands of dissidents battled police with steel pipes and firebombs after another demonstrator burned himself to death protesting the rule of President Roh Tae Woo and the fatal police beating of a student. Witnesses said police used tear gas and batons against about 3,000 protesters at Anyang Hospital, south of Seoul, where a union activist fell to his death Monday while in police custody.
