WORLD IN BRIEF : CANADA : Sikh Convicted in Bombing at Airport

A Sikh electrician was convicted of helping to kill two Japanese airport workers in a 1985 bomb explosion that tore apart the baggage area at Tokyo’s Narita airport. Justice Raymond Paris of the British Columbia Supreme Court also ruled that Inderjit Singh Reyat, who has been in jail in Canada since being extradited from Britain in 1989, was guilty of four explosives charges arising from the blast. After a 62-day trial in which he heard more than 90 prosecution witnesses, Paris found Reyat either made or helped to make the bomb, contained in a stereo tuner inside a suitcase that had just been removed from a Vancouver flight.
