Walnut : Subdivisions, Road OKd
The City Council on Wednesday gave final approval to plans for two housing subdivisions in central Walnut, clearing the way for the completion of Meadowpass Road.
The council voted 4 to 0, with Councilwoman Bert Ashley absent, to adopt two development agreements that call for the construction of 18 homes, 10 in one tract and eight in the other. As a condition of the agreement, the developers must allow the city to construct the Meadowpass Road extension through its two parcels of land.
The four-lane road, which is currently missing two links south of Amar Road and east of Lemon Avenue, is expected to relieve traffic congestion in the area when it is connected.
The city agreed to contribute nearly $500,000 to the road construction, about half of the estimated cost of completing the road, with the developer contributing the remainder.
The agreement must be signed by the developers, but their representative, Taleb Sabouni, told the council that his clients would agree to the terms.
