Letter Carriers Honor Hero Who Rescued Driver

WASHINGTON —
A Maine letter carrier who helped to rescue the driver of an overturned truck carrying acid was named hero of the year Tuesday by the National Assn. of Letter Carriers. Jon Bickford, 39, of Yarmouth, Me., was selected for his effort in rescuing Cynthia McCallum on March 13, 1990, when her truck overturned on Interstate 295 in Portland, Me.
