Designer Harry Segil grew up in South Africa, but his wacky furniture, with its ‘50s-inspired blend of colors and shapes, textures and technologies, is “as American as baseball,” he says. And now he’s taken the best of his work and miniaturized it.

His pint-sized line, available at HaRry Studio on Venice Boulevard, includes the Kids Korner loveseat and armchair in custom color combinations. Like the assorted ottomans, these pieces reflect the designer’s fondness for vinyl, even in this age of natural fibers.

Segil, who has two sons, believes in giving kids a stimulating environment: “My furniture takes you back to a willingness to experiment.” He mixes vinyl with chrome and laminates for his dinette sets. He also covers tables and etageres with automotive lacquer and polyurethane, which makes them durable and easy to clean--with a little car polish.
