Harris’ report on the homeless (May 15), told from the perspective of 6-year-old Thomas Elliott, brought tears of compassion, outrage, awe for the human spirit and finally hope! Hope as in the marvelous way humans survive, as in a bright little boy exposed now and then to the goodness in the rest of us.

As I sit here, poolside, celebrating 34 years of marriage, I am acutely aware again, because of this poignantly written article, of my serious obligation to continue sharing what I have. Thank you.
