Education Reform
Conrad’s cartoon lampoons President Bush as the “Edukashun Prezedent” (May 17) who favors “choise” and “standerdized testing,” but in fact those are better ways of spelling those words--phonetically--than the old ways, and to poke fun at the phonetic way is to be stupidly intolerant, stiflingly pedantic and inflexibly resistant to beneficial reform.
I am a left-wing liberal, and no fan of Bush’s at all, but choice and standardized testing are great and needed ideas.
