Eric Boyer of France won the fourth stage of the Tour of Italy and took over the overall lead, completing the 102-mile leg in 4 hours 23 minutes 50 seconds. His victory put him ahead of the field by eight seconds, with Franco Chiocciolo slipping to second place.
