Gay Scout Leader Barred

Share

The judge ruled that the Scouts have a constitutional right to reject gays because of the organization’s First Amendment right to express its belief that homosexuality is immoral. The judge has apparently said that discrimination is OK as long as one believes it’s OK.

If someone believes that blacks, or Jews, or women are somehow inferior, does that give him or her a constitutional right to discriminate against members of that group? Has the right to discriminate now become one of America’s “traditional family values”?

It is unfortunate that this judge’s legal training could not save her from the homophobic bias that she, like too many Americans, allows to cloud her thinking. The implications of this ruling are absurd!
